As already mentioned, the
M-system represents a "compressed" R-system, and for this reason it
incorporates the same basic concepts. In its basic form the M-system
is a classic two-channel stereo system. it consists of the PT
820 M analogue pre-amplifier/tuner, the PA
820 M two-channel power amplifier and the DVD
820 M.
If the DD 820 M digital decoder
is added, containing the three output stages for the Centre and Rear
channels, it is transformed into a surround system. In its surround
version the system’s M-bus, which represents the data connection between
the M-system components, connects the pre-amplifier to the decoder.
In stereo mode the digital decoder is completely removed from the
signal path, and the result is a genuine audiophile two-channel system.
Naturally this overall concept is a particular attraction to audiophile
two-channel enthusiasts, who harbour secret fears that surround systems
don’t sound good. If you are one of these pure music enthusiasts,
you can rest assured with the M-system. |
